RSPB parking fines get drivers flapping

11th May 2019

Furious twitchers and sunset charters say they can’t believe the RSPB will make them pay to use their car park in future.

The marshside car park lies at the start of the Sandwinners Track, an ancient path that leads to the shoreline but now RSPB bosses want to charge anyone and everyone to pro there.

Generations have used this public amenity to take exercise, walk the dog, enjoy fresh air, watch the birdlife and gaze at the sunset.

As parking on the coast road is rightly prohibited and yellow lines extend the length of Marshside Road, the RSPB car park is the only place for those who wish to enjoy this amenity to leave their car.

Closure at 5pm will, in effect, render this very special public space out-of-bounds
