Rooftop restoration recommences

4th March 2018

Councillor David Barton, a leading campaigner for the restoration and regeneration of Lord Street and Southport Town Centre has spoken to OTS News Southport regarding his ongoing endeavours to champion the local Southport Community, including his own ongoing progress regarding Bistrot Pierre, Southport here on Lord Street located at the site of the former Russell & Bromley Store.

Councillor David Barton said:

“I have conducted multiple site visits and being able to provide continued guidance to the multiple teams of contractors on site which has ranged from a detailed schedule of works as approved by the Local Authority, assisting with construction and licensing permits to even facilitation of free car parking whilst on site.

I should therefore like to refute the recent claim that the overhead  rooftop canopy element of this particular series of Victorian Verandahs was ever at risk of being lost. The overall regenerative project was in fact delayed by last year’s highly successful Golf Open and multiple seasonal storms, which in turn led to the original time delay in the canopy being erected in time for the restaurant’s grand launch, late last year.

To the team at Bistrot Pierre and other key stakeholders, I thank you all for all your diligent efforts, which have been made without any subsidies or funding support.”
