Rock ‘N’ Roll Souse TV Comedian At LOL Comedy Club

15th January 2018

Steve Gribbin is a diminutive guitar-wielding satirist from Liverpool whose scabrous comedy songs and off the wall observations have made him one of the firm favourites of the comedy circuit.

His original comedy songs combine razor sharp lyrics with tunes that put their foot in the door of your mind and refuse to leave. Firmly based in rock ‘n’ roll and refusing to pull no punches, these are not the ‘oh so witty’ ditties of penguin-suited plink plonk piano playing posh gobs. They are that rarity – comedy songs which are actually funny.

For nine years Steve was the smaller one in the dynamic comedy duo Skint Video, stalwart’s of the Edinburgh Festival, appearing on countless television programmes such as Saturday Live, radio such as The Mary Whitehouse Experience, and their own show in 1992/3 Songlines (BBC Radio 1). Skint Video went their different ways in 1993, since when Steve has been storming across the UK and Ireland as a solo artiste.

“Satirical songs pulled off with real aplomb” The Independent

Forget Russell Brand, Mancunian Mike Newall is regarded by many as having the best hair in the UK comedy scene with a throwback to Oasis in 1990 he’s one for the ladies and the gents too.

As a result many are now calling him ‘The Real Magic Mike’. Fortunately he’s also one of the country’s most consistently reliable comedy storytellers and proud possessor of a breezy, casual style that’s the envy of many of his contempories. Frankly we’ve never seen a comedian so laid back and yet packing so much comedic power. Swiss clock timing and that certain knack for a sharp turn of phrase means he is living proof that you can’t learn to be funny, it’s a gift and he has it by the bucket load.

Manchester has had more than its fair share of comedy heritage over the years, he is without doubt the latest smooth talking, globetrotting Manc export and could even go on to become the greatest.

Mike has that rare knack of being like the boy the next door but with huge star quality. He’s like your best, most humorous friend – only funnier!

“Is a master of the art of comedy and effortlessly likeable” The List

“Perfectly crafted … Pin sharp, his control is deft and his hair is immaculate” The Scotsman.

Matt Stellingwerf has come an impressively long way in a short amount of time. He is the newest rising star on the UK comedy scene, having dominated the comedy stages of New Zealand for the last five years. Highly regarded by his peers, Matt has won four NZ Comedy Guild Awards, including Best Newcomer, the much coveted Billy T Award, and been nominated for several others.
His intelligent style is an interdisciplinary mix of the self-deprecating, satirical and hyperbolic. Grazing upon an all-encompassing choice of topics, he presents information that combines the informative or the personal narrative with pithy personal observations, and the audience laughs easily and applauds readily.

His strength as a compere is reflected in his 3-time nominations for Best MC at the New Zealand Comedy Festival. Set wise he has toured extensively, performing throughout NZ, Australia, the USA & the United Kingdom, with dynamite short sets, and solo shows to huge acclaim. He has enjoyed recognition on NZ television in Maori TV’s Crack Up, Rhys Darby’s Short Poppies, TV3’s AotearoHA: Rising Stars and TV ONE’s Coverband.
Matt Stellingwerf is a man to watch out for. Note this man’s name. Go see him raise the comedy bar. He is clearly destined for big things, so that in the future when you see him and his name on TV, you can boast that you saw him in person.
