Road rage drivers vow to run down Open volunteers in shocking Facebook post

Heartless drivers say they want to run down volunteers who are helping regulate traffic around Birkdale for the open. Screenshots have been sent to OTS News from members of the Southport Speedtrap group after a forum member encouraged drivers to knock down the high visibility traffic wardens in a sick game.

Others quickly defended the wardens, who have helped reduce traffic problems and stopped a build up of excess congestion happening around the Waterloo Road area of Birkdale.

However the operation has not been good enough, say some frustrated drivers on the facebook group, who are now complaining that they are being temporarily stopped from driving down Waterloo Road while traffic is let out from Carr Lane recreational ground. They say the volunteers have no power to carry out these traffic stops and should be restricted from doing so.

However one commenter posted a vitriolic challenge, saying: They are golf w*nkers. “Get in to top gear and go flat out.

“I will issue a crate of ale for the most high viz losers taken out.” OTS news understands the comments have now been reported to the police.
