Emergency crews have closed off a busy road in Southport tonight following a road traffic incident.
Police have closed off Meols Cop Road near to the retail park after a road traffic accident shortly before 6:15pm this evening.
At least one car has collided with the railings of Meols Cop Park.
The road is shut off in both directions with the Meols Cop Road exit of Kew Roundabout closed off.
An Arriva bus has been caught up in the incident and remains stationary with passengers kept within the police cordon.
Paramedics and emergency first responders have been called and are carried out first aid on the driver of one vehicle.
Traffic in the area has ground to a standstill and police are warning people to avoid the area.
