RIP – THE LEGEND BOBBY EDWARDS has cycled his last journey here on earth.

24th March 2020

Robert (Bobby) Arthur Edwards (1938 -2020)

Bobby was an Easily recognisable figure, with a cheery smile, a chat and a wave as he cycled his bike round Southport. Everybody knew him and he stopped to talk to everyone and anyone. No one had a bad word to say about him. He will be sorely missed by so many of his family, friends, bowlers, school mates and many others far too many to mention, as he sadly passed away at his home last week, surrounded by his loving supportive family.

His life as husband, father (in law), grand dad and great granddad, brother, friend, a plumber, lollipop man, Football player and bowler will ensure many will have so many memories of him. Not least, the time he made history when he & his High Park FC teammates went to Russia. A fond memory of his, that is now also a fond memory of our own. Please feel free to share your own memories of Bobby, as it is really helping the family to remember such wonderful stories from others.

Bobby’s funeral is due to be held on Thursday 26th March at St Cuthbert’s. Due to restrictions it is for Immediate family only. Unfortunately though we know he deserves the best send off for being such an amazing dad, wonderful husband, a loyal friend and generally just a fabulous, kind and generous man the funeral must be for immediate family only. For our well being and your own we are unable to allow anyone in the church or crematorium and we are under strict instructions from the Church of England/ government that this must be adhered too. These are unprecedented times and we are trying to make the best of a horrendous situation. However, the funeral procession will follow the route detailed below, past a few memorable places for Bobby. If you wish/able to pay your respects you are more than welcome to be seen on the route. Please keep safe, and remember social distancing at all times.

Please forward All donations to Queenscourt via J W Ball Funeral Directors, Bispham Rd.

Thank you for all your cards, kind thoughts, love and condolences we have received, we have been truly over whelmed with the feelings of love for him. He really was a very well thought of man, but we already knew that, as he lit up a room with his smile.

Gill, Sharon, Sammy, Claire, Robbie and our families.
