Right-to-die cases

Local MEP, Chris Davies, who has written extensively about people’s right to die across Europe has sympathised with judges involved in the right to die cases decided today, he said, “The judges are right that it is for Parliament, not them, to decide the law on assisted dying.

“There have been no prosecutions for people being helped to travel to end their life in Switzerland since the new guidelines from the DPP were issued but British people should not have to travel abroad to have their wishes respected.

“There would be no need for these harrowing court cases if Parliament grasped the nettle and legalised assisted dying with suitable safeguards in the UK.

“MPs should stop hiding behind judges and do their jobs.”
