The Ribble Steam Railway on Preston’s Docklands will light up the faces of all the youngsters visiting over the Bank Holiday Weekend as many of the steam and diesel locos will be wearing their new faces at their Friendly Engines Gala.
These new 3D faces have been produced exclusively for the railway by the illuminations department at Blackpool and are proving a hit with the kids as recently seen during the Preston Riversway Festival and it is rumoured one of the railway’s engines will be featured as a new illumination at Blackpool this year!
The museum is open each day over the weekend from 10 to 5 with lots of engines on display including the recently arrived Prototype Deltic which was built in Preston.
The train rides run on a special Friendly Engines timetable starting at 11 and every 45 minutes until 4-15 with a Friendly Steam Engine on one end of the train and a Grumpy Diesel Engine on the other. There may well be a surprise engine making an appearance too! This is the last Friendly Engines Event of 2012 although special faces will appear on the Halloween Specials in October and a jolly face for the Santa Specials too..
Admission tickets are valid all day and for unlimited train rides, the museum, workshop and free face painting!
(Please note at this time the railway does not have card facilities so its cash only folks)
