Despite being a cold evening and a school night for the children, Southport Theatre was probably half full for the long running production of Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat.

Joseph was played by Lloyd Daniels, an X factor finalist in 2009 and I could understand why he got to the final, his voice was great, though I didn’t recognise him, perhaps it was the loincloth that distracted me.

The show has little spoken dialogue but the catchy songs carry you along. Lots os swaying and clapping from the audience.

Though the narrator was not Marcus Collins, as stated, it was a young female who certainly did a sterling job.

As to be expected there were children in the audience enjoying the well known songs and we all laughed heartily when on the stage some large white objects seemed to be inflated -supposed to be sheep, but they didn’t resemble anything I’ve ever seen in a field but what can you expect it is a musical!

I overheard someone say it was a bit camp but I think that was okay, who wouldn’t laugh at the Pharaoh swinging his hips, dressed as Elvis, or an Egyptian with a cowboy hat on!!

All in all I was entertained and the show is worth a visit, even on a week night!!
