RESULT Kiddeminster 2 Southport 2
Southport FC were denied maximum points after they conceded a late equaliser against bottom of the table Kidderminster Harriers.
Goals from Karl Ledsham and Tony Gray (penalty) gave the Sandgrounders the lead but they had to settle for a draw after Anthony Mablorn scored for the home team on 87 minutes.
Kidderminster started the match well and they took the lead early on when Kyle Storer latched on to a clearance from the Southport defence and he fired in a low shot from the edge of the area.
Southport were disappointing in the first-half and the home team continued to press forward. Richard Peniket had a great chance when he was played through by Mickey Demetriou but goalkeeper Tony McMillan came to the rescue by making a fine save.
Southport’s only chance of the first-half was when Michael Bakare fired the ball over from 28 yards out.
Kidderminster started the second period on the attack and they nearly scored again when Marvin Johnson was played one on one but McMillan came out on top again as he made another great save.
Southport found an equaliser when a mistake from keeper Danny Lewis allowed Ledsham to find the target with a composed finish from 20 yards.
Gray gave the Sandgrounders the lead a few minutes later when Shaun Whalley was brought down in the box by keeper Lewis and Gray scored from the penalty spot.
Kidderminster came back strong and they finished the game well. They got an equalising goal with three minutes left as Malborn headed the ball home from close range after Southport failed to deal with a corner.
