Resort bar manager pulls no punches for gruelling charity challenge

A Southport bar manager is pouring her heart and soul into a mammoth charity challenge next month

Kie Wain, the ever friendly face behind the bar of the Beer Den in Southport is set to walk a gruelling 27 miles from Wigan Pier to Southport Pier in one day, in aid of Queenscourt Hospice.

Kie, who has been diagnosed with fibromyalgia, faces a mountainous challenge of both physical and mental strength for the marathon walk in March 28th.

So far generous pub regulars, friends and family have donated £450 to Kie’s fundraiser and will be cheering her on to the finishing line.

Following exhaustive training, Kie says she will do all she can to complete the challenge in just under 9 hours.

Kie said “Myself and a group of like minded individuals will be walking the 27 miles from Wigan Pier to Southport Pier in just one day!

“Since finding out I have fibromyalgia it has been a struggle to train or to get up and do it at the very least but I am wholly determined and won’t give up.

“The regulars at the Beer Den have been amazing and giving me all kinds of support but I would love anybody who can to donate even a small amount to help me smash my open fundraising goal.

“Queenscourt is an amazing charity I have recently come into contact with and they do so much for people and their families locally, taking care of those with serious illnesses and enabling them to achieve the best possible quality of life.”
