Residents to remain vigilant after increased prowler reports

    By Community Contributor24th February 2021

Southport residents are urged to remain vigilant and ensure all doors and windows of their properties and vehicles are locked at night after increased reports across the town of prowlers in gardens and driveways.

LinksView Home Watch in Ainsdale stated that they had received a number of reports from residents of a suspicious male looking inside cars in the early hours.

One resident stated that they were awoken at 4am to the sound of their car radio coming on and assumed it activated because access had been gained to the vehicle, though no damage was found.

Members of the public have reported individuals trying their front doors in the Marshside and Churchtown areas, whilst a number of residents have raised the alarm after witnessing individuals prowling around their properties, attempting to gain access to sheds and cars in the Liverpool/Guildford Road areas of Birkdale.

There are also a number of extremely worrying accounts of people observing suspicious individuals accessing their gardens in the middle of the night.

Merseyside Police website has a section providing support, advice and information on keeping your home and property safe: https://crowd.in/hW8uli

If you need to report a crime please DM @MerPolCC on Twitter, or call 101, in an emergency always call 999.
