Resident stabbed over alleged drug debt in Southport town centre

A man in his 50’s has been rushed to hospital after being stabbed numerous times over a reported drugs debt.

The male, who was cycling down Princes Street earlier today, was accosted in a targeted attack where he was stabbed multiple times by an unknown assailant.

OTS News understands that the stabbing was in retaliation to an unpaid drug debt which has reached thousands of pounds.

Police were called to the scene shortly after 2pm today but took over half an hour to reach Princes Street where they found the Male being tended to by concerned passers-by.

He has since been rushed to hospital where he is being treated.

A spokesman for the North West Ambulance Service confirmed that a rapid response vehicle and ambulance had attended an address on Princes Street

A Merseyside spokesman said – An investigation is underway and CCTV and witness enquiries are ongoing in the local area.
