Cllr Ian Maher, Sefton Council’s Cabinet Member for Regeneration and Tourism, said: “With ticket sales way up on previous years, we can safely say for 2014 this was by far the busiest and biggest Air Show on record.
“Thousands upon thousands of people were on the seafront and Southport beach watching some amazing aircraft and displays. Favourites like the Typhoon, Spitfire, Lancaster Bomber and Red Arrows entertained the crowds from the skies, while an action packed ground display kept people busy on terra firma.
“Unfortunately the cloud level was quite low on Saturday which meant the Vulcan was not in a position to fly.
“However, with near perfect conditions in place on Sunday, the Vulcan made an appearance and closed the show on what was an amazing weekend and a real boost for the local economy.”
