Superyacht demand is surging in 2025 as wealthy travelers return to high-end maritime experiences. Brokers report one of the strongest first halves in years. Q1 saw 125 deals for yachts over 78 feet, up sharply from 87 last year.
Q2 added 144 transactions with an estimated value of 1.41 billion dollars. Shipyards also continue to operate at near full capacity with more than 690 superyachts under construction worldwide.
The trend reflects a broader shift in luxury travel. High-net-worth travelers want independence, privacy and access to natural settings. Sea-based holidays meet all three. Charter activity is rising as clients request flexible itineraries and quieter routes that avoid traditional hotspots.
This renewed interest is also lifting smaller coastal regions. Many visitors look for simple ways to explore the water, sometimes starting with options like choosing to rent a boat in Kissamos to reach secluded bays and uncrowded swimming spots.
Yacht builders are responding with designs that focus on range, efficiency and onboard comfort. Charter operators are refining services to meet demand for tailored experiences. Luxury travel is becoming more experience-led, and the superyacht market sits at the center of that evolution.
Kamnaki Maria, Reservation Manager at DanEri Yachts, notes:
“Travelers want control over their time at sea. They choose routes with space, quiet waters and personal freedom. The rise in superyacht orders reflects the same mindset. Even simple choices like renting a boat in Kissamos show how guests now value flexible, self-directed exploration.”
