RAIL disruption for SUNDAY rail users
Rail passengers using Northern rail services had to endure yet more disruption last Sunday when staff ‘made themselves unavailable to work.’
The company was the subject of criticism when it cut more than 9,000 rail services after timetable changes in the spring but a total of 75% of the cancelled services were reinstated last week.
However, there was more misery on Sunday when yet more services were slashed because the under-fire company were short of staff.
Locally, Liverpool was the worst hit – the Liverpool to Manchester Airport service was subject to a full cancellation (which hit 30 services).
The Wigan North Western – Liverpool service saw 50% of services cancelled (29 in total). The company did still operate one service per hour between Liverpool Lime Street and Wigan North Western.
