Rail passengers faced delays this morning (Tuesday 4th September 2012) after vandals targeted the main Merseyrail railway line between Southport and Hunts Cross.
Services were severely delayed and some were cancelled after a bicycle was thrown onto the line during the early hours of the morning.
The bike was removed at about 7:45am and services resumed just before 8am.
Travellers faced long waits and crowded journeys on packed trains for up to two hours later.
