Queues grow at Splashworld as hundreds fear catching Virus mutation

2nd February 2021

The asymptomatic testing centre at Splashworld in Southport is seeing thousands of people come through its doors today.

The queues at the centre, where tests can tell you in under an hour if you have Covid or not, are growing by the minute with many facing a bitterly cold wait in the winter weather to find out if they have the virus or not.

It comes after the PR9 area of the town was put on high alert after a single case of the South Africa strain was discovered in the town.

An exact location of where the mutation was found has not been divulged.

While people are not being told to avoid the normal testing centres, the council have said anyone in PR9 will be given access to a mobile testing site which is due to be launched tomorrow.
