Pub warning for Southport football streaming drinking establishments

Pubs and bars in Southport have been given a fresh warning not to broadcast Premier League matches illegally after a number of venues were slapped with heavy fines.

There were four pubs in Merseyside which were on the list, with the other three being in the city centre, Wavertree and St Helens.

As a result of the crackdown, the Premier League has managed to recoup a total of £218,000 in costs from the 22 pubs. Over the course of the 2016/17 season league bosses wrote to around 700 pubs to remind them not to break the law and broadcast matches without paying for a licence fee.
