Preview Woking v Southport

Woking will be looking to make it back-to-back Blue Square Bet Premier victories when they host Southport at Kingfield Stadium on Saturday afternoon.

The Cardinals, Blue Square Bet South winners last season, climbed to 10th in the standings on Tuesday thanks to a 2-1 victory at home against Cambridge United, although that result followed on from two defeats and a draw in their previous three league matches.

The Sandgrounders, meanwhile, find themselves near the wrong end of the table, with their 3-2 defeat to Barrow last time out leaving Liam Watson’s men 17th, just three points above the relegation zone after 14 games.

The boss will also be looking for more consistency from his side, who have won four, lost six and drawn four of their league encounters.

In teams news, the Cards will be without inspirational striker Guiseppe Sole, who is out with cruciate and lateral collateral ligament damage in his knee, but on-loan Sunderland midfielder Billy Knott is set to continue in the starting XI after making his debut last time out.

For the Yellows, Michael Bakare is out with a hamstring strain he picked up against the Bluebirds in midweek, while Karl Ledsham is expected to be missing for another week after needing stitches on his shin.

Player-coach Alan Moogan and club captain Simon Grand are both facing late fitness tests, while James Smith is a doubt as he continues to recover from a foot injury.
