Braintree Town will be desperate to pry themselves off the foot of the Blue Square Bet Premier standings when they travel to Southport on Saturday afternoon.
The Iron have lost both of their previous two league matches to sit rock-bottom with 20 points, although they are only in that position on goal difference, with Barrow and Nuneaton Town completing a three-way tie in the basement.
The Sandgrounders, meanwhile, also find themselves battling the drop zone, with Liam Watson’s side 19th in the standings, just two points above the bottom-four.
They did, however, pick up all three points in their previous league clash as they saw off Stockport County 4-3, albeit through a late Danny Rowe own-goal.
In team news, Liam Watson has a full squad to choose from, save for long-term casualty Andy Parry, who has broken ribs, while Simon Grand is on standby with the birth of his first child now imminent.
Alan Devonshire, meanwhile, could hand short-term loan signing Don Cowan his long-awaited debut, the Stevenage man having been sidelined with an ankle injury since joining in January. (Source Blue Square Bet)
