Southport will be looking to return to winning ways in Vanarama National League North as they welcome Brackley Town to the Pure Stadium.

The Port recorded an excellent win over Farsley Celtic last weekend in the Emirates FA Cup, and will be hoping to transfer that form to the league.

This week’s opponents, Brackley, also enjoyed joy in the cup as they were 2-0 winners over Warrington Town.

Confidence will be even higher in the visiting squad after their previous two league games, where they have scored 12 goals with a 4-0 win away to Curzon Ashton, before thrashing Bradford (Park Avenue) 8-0.

In total this season Kevin Wilkin’s side have netted 23 goals in the league, meaning the Port defence will have to be on the ball.

Leading the way for the club is James Armson, who has netted seven times so far this campaign.

Meanwhile Shane Byrne and Lee Ndlovu have bagged four each, as part of a strong Saints attack.

As well as being in free-scoring form, Brackley also hold the second best defence in the division, only conceding nine goals.

The fine form has seen Wilkin’s side go unbeaten in their last four games, and currently sit in fifth place in the table.

Liam Watson will be hoping his side can put in a better performance than the meetings last year, as he gears up for his 500th game in charge of the club.

The first clash between the pair last season ended 2-0 to the Saints at St James’ Park, before a goalless at the Pure Stadium later on in the year.

Fans who will be attending Non-league Day this Saturday will be hoping for a better outcome this time round.
