The increased use of statistics in the Premier League has created a landscape where previously unconsidered metrics are now heavily monitored as teams and analysts explore how to get an extra edge in the game.
That is undoubtedly the case where assists are concerned, with the category becoming firmly established in the narrative surrounding the English top flight as a massive indicator of a player’s value to the club.
In that spirit, Betting experts Spreadex Sports have assessed which players are most likely to top the assists charts this season, with players from the so-called ‘Big Six’ clubs a core focus of their research. The list makes for interesting reading:
| PLAYER | TEAM | PREDICTED ASSISTS |
| Mohamed Salah | Liverpool | 9 -10 |
| Mohammed Kudus | Tottenham Hotspur | 8.75 – 9.75 |
| Bukayo Saka | Arsenal | 8.25 – 9.25 |
| Eberechi Eze | Arsenal | 8 – 9 |
| Joao Pedro | Chelsea | 8 – 9 |
| Declan Rice | Arsenal | 7.75 – 8.75 |
| Bruno Fernandes | Manchester United | 7.25 – 8.25 |
| Cody Gakpo | Liverpool | 6.5 – 7.25 |
| Tijani Reijnders | Manchester City | 6 – 6.75 |
| Florian Wirtz | Liverpool | 5.5 – 6.5 |
| Pedro Neto | Chelsea | 5.5 – 6.5 |
| Oscar Bobb | Manchester City | 5.5 – 6.25 |
One element which stands out is the conservative nature of the assists tally predicted to be the highest among the top teams this season. Of course, this is based on initial performances as well as historical data, and with seven games gone, some stars haven’t fired as yet, leading their predicted stats to skew lower.
Liverpool’s Mohamed Salah is expected to head the standings with a spread of nine to ten assists, which is significantly short of his output last season.
Salah weighed in with 18 assists in 2024/25 as Liverpool clinched the Premier League title for just the second time in their history.
He has registered two assists in seven outings this term, but it is not unreasonable to think that he could step up his productivity as the campaign progresses.
Liverpool splashed the cash on forwards Alexander Isak and Hugo Ekitike this summer, and Salah will be one of their primary sources of chance creation.
However, Salah’s involvement with Egypt at the Africa Cup of Nations could scupper his hopes of topping the assists charts again this season.
Arsenal star Bukayo Saka appeals as a more likely winner in this category given the numbers he has put up over the past three campaigns.
The England international has registered 30 assists during that timeframe and would have had more but for missing a significant portion of last season through injury.
Saka is yet to weigh in with an assist this season, but looks guaranteed to put that right once new striker Viktor Gyokeres starts firing on all cylinders.
The former Sporting CP star has scored three league goals in seven appearances this term and should become more prolific during the rest of the season.
Saka has had 18 touches in the opposition box and completed 111 passes this term. He is strongly fancied to beat Spreadex’s 8.25 to 9.25 predicted assists tally.
Away from the top teams, Jack Grealish could be one to watch after impressing with Everton. Grealish has already weighed in with four assists and could be a good bet to hit double figures.
Aston Villa’s Ollie Watkins topped the standings with 13 assists in 2023/24, highlighting that players outside of the big guns can shine in this category.
Bournemouth winger Antoine Semenyo is another player worth monitoring. He has bagged three assists to help the Cherries climb to fourth place in the Premier League.
While they are not expected to stay in contention for Champions League qualification, they should be in the mix to bag a place in the Europa League or Europa Conference League.
