Popular resort dance academy relaunches after virus shutdown

16th September 2020

The Pauline Quirke Dance Academy Southport has reopened their doors for the first time in over 6 months.

Having provided a whole host of exciting virtual performing arts activities throughout lockdown (including workshops with West End performers, filmmaking masterclasses with world class film directors and acting workshops with famous comedians), PQA Southport is finally returning to their regular Academy sessions.

Sarah Barnes, Principal of PQA Southport had this to say about the day “It was amazing to be together again, I was quite emotional seeing all the students looking so happy. It was clear that everyone had missed being at PQA. We had to close just as we were preparing for our performance at Her Majesty’s Theatre in London’s West End. The performance, which was due to happen in June 2020, was cancelled so now we’re back to prepping again for our June 2021 performance. We’re just all so happy to be doing what we love again”

Sarah Barnes and their team of fabulous professionally trained teachers have been working hard to ensure that the Academy is as safe as possible. You can watch this short video about what PQA are doing to exceed the current Government directives. As an Academy, they have also introduced smaller class sizes, increased staff and socially distanced choreography!! One PQA Southport parent was especially impressed by the first day back and said “my children came out buzzing and we’re so pleased to be back!”

PQA Southport is enrolling now, classes run on Saturday from 9:45am – 1pm. They are currently based at Greenbank High School on Hastings Road.
