Police want to raise £10k for Princes Trust

22nd July 2018

Merseyside Police is pledging to raise £10,000 for the Prince’s Trust, to help disadvantaged young people in the local community.

The campaign, called #Millioncoppers, was launched on Monday, July 2, with buckets placed across the force, in police stations, offices and enquiry officers, where people can donate their pennies.

Organiser, Detective Sergean Peter Russell explained: “We worked out that one million pennies is £10,000, so to help reach our target we’re urging officers and staff across Merseyside to bring in all those pennies lying around at home, in a drawer, down the back of the sofa and donate their spare change.

“The Prince’s Trust is a fantastic charity and in Merseyside they help disadvantaged young people in our area change their lives, get into work, education or training, which I know we are all keen to support. In this case every penny really does count.”
