Police swoop on uninsured driver Manor Road Southport

Male Driver detained by police Manor Road Southport, Thursday 23 July 2015

Police this evening swooped and detained a male driving a Volvo down Manor Road.

A witness said:

“I was walking down Manor road at around 5pm when all of a sudden police cars with sirens and blue lights came from both directions blocking the car in.

“The man driving the Volvo was detained in the back of the police van”

 

A police spokesperson said the penalties for uninsured drivers are:

“The driver could face a fixed penalty of £300 and 6 penalty points if found guilty of not being insured to drive”.

“If the case goes to court he could get an unlimited fine or even disqualified from driving”

“The police also have the power to seize, and in some cases, destroy the vehicle that’s being driven uninsured”.
