Police step up patrols to help stop ASB in Southport.

Officers were policing the area from Banks to Hightown and all points between last night following a night of chaos.

A spokesperson from Merseyside police said: “we are aware that mobile phone footage of damage being caused to shop windows on Lord Street last night (Tuesday 30th Oct) has been circulated on Southport local news websites. The individuals in the footage are known to the Southport Local Policing Team, who were responding to other incidents at the time of the incident.

We would like the person who filmed the incident to contact the Local Policing Team at Southport Police Station on 0151 777 3442, so that we can take action. When we have the evidence required to take action and take people responsible for criminal damage in the town to court, we will do so. Putting the footage on social media has a purpose, but it is not part of the legal process. Please help us to tackle the issues that matter to you by giving us the evidence we need to make those responsible pay for their actions.

The Dispersal Zones in Southport town centre, Ainsdale and Formby remain in place until 4:00PM Thursday. Officers will continue to issue Dispersal Notices to individuals whose presence contributes to anti-social behaviour in these areas and will arrest any individuals who breach notices already issued.
