Yesterday South Rural task force received reports of males hare coursing in Bickerstaffe, Ormskirk.
Police attended and detained 3 males, interviewing, seizing items off them and finally reporting them for wildlife offences. For those wishing to come into Lancashire committing rural crime this is what will happen to you.
A police spokesperson said: “The two dogs with the group decided police officers were better people to be with and ran to the nearby officers. These dogs have been taken to kennels and are being looked after and cared for.
For those who will comment ‘it’s one for the pot’ and other unrelated comments we have burglary teams, drugs task forces and operational officers who do exceptional work in these areas. We are the rural task force and this is rural crime.
Farmers and the rural communities live in fear of poachers who threaten, intimidate, damage property and persecute our biodiversity. Ask yourself how you would feel watching people trespassing in your garden, running dogs on wildlife and listening to animals crying out in pain.
Thanks to the community who continue to support us, and we will remain committed to work with our rural communities to make it a safe place to live.”
