Merseyside Police is becoming increasingly concerned about a 49-year-old man who has now been missing from his Southport home for nine days.

David Johnston was last seen on Albert Road in Southport on Monday, 7 September.

Detective Inspector Colin Rennison said: “We are very worried about David’s welfare as he is a very vulnerable man. He was living in Southport at the time he went missing, but he is very familiar with the South Liverpool area, in particular Aigburth, Garston, Hunts Cross and West Derby Cemetery.

“I am appealing to the public to help us trace David as we do not know where he may have gone and believe he may be sleeping rough.”

He is described as being white, around 5ft 8in tall, of medium build short cropped grey hair.

When he was last seen he was wearing a navy jumper, denim jeans and trainers.

David is known to frequent Southport, Aigburth, Garston, Hunts Cross and West Derby Cemetery.

Extensive enquiries are being made by the police to find David and officers are appealing for the public’s help in doing so.

Anyone who knows where David is or has seen a man resembling him since Friday afternoon is asked to call Merseyside Police on 0151 777 5312 or 0151 2332296 or the Missing People charity on 116 000.
