Police raid Liverpool Road Ainsdale Southport

Police smashed their way through the front door of a detached house on Liverpool Road, Ainsdale, Southport, this morning (Thursday 11th October 2012).  Police with sniffer dogs also entered the house at about 11:00am.  

Police enquiries are ongoing.

ELEVEN MORE PEOPLE ARRESTED IN OPERATION BY TITAN TARGETING DRUGS, FIREARMS AND MONEY LAUNDERING
Officers from the North West Regional Organised Crime Unit (Titan) have arrested 11 people on suspicion of drugs, firearms, violence and money laundering offences today (Thursday, 11 October 2012). The arrests are linked to the policing operation that saw 13 people charged following warrants executed by Titan across Merseyside, Lancashire, Cheshire and Manchester on 27 September 2012. Officers today executed search warrants in Southport, Ainsdale, Anfield, Wallasey, Huyton, Banks, Aughton as well as Woodhouses, Manchester, Hyde and Stockport. Assistance was provided by officers from Merseyside, Cheshire, and Greater Manchester police forces following a covert investigation into serious and organised crime. 

 
Ten men and one woman have been taken to police stations in Merseyside, Lancashire and Greater Manchester for questioning by detectives. During the searches officers also recovered a cannabis farm with around 100 plants at a house in Fazakerley and a quantity of a substance believed to be a Class A drug at a property in Hyde.
 
Those arrested are:
  • A 43-year-old man from Bootle was arrested on suspicion of conspiracy to commit grevious bodily harm and blackmail
  • A 41-year-old man from Wallasey was arrested on suspicion of conspiracy to commit grevious bodily harm and blackmail
  • A 32-year-old man from Southport was arrested on suspicion of committing grevious bodily harm
  • A 35-year-old man from Huyton was arrested on suspicion of conspiracy to supply class A drugs and offences under the Proceeds of Crime Act
  • A 43-year-old man from Northwich was arrested on suspicion of conspiracy to supply class A drugs
  • A 49-year-old woman from Northwich was arrested on suspicion of conspiracy to supply class A drugs
  • A 28-year-old man from Failsworth, Manchester was arrested on suspicion of conspiracy to supply class A drugs and conspiracy to supply class B drugs
  • A 43-year-old man from Hyde, Manchester was arrested on suspicion of conspiracy to supply class A drugs and conspiracy to supply class B drugs as well as offences under the Proceeds of Crime Act
  • A 33-year-old man, of no fixed abode, was arrested on suspicion of conspiracy to supply class A drugs and conspiracy to possess firearms
  • A 50-year-old man from Southport was arrested on suspicion of offences under the Proceeds of Crime Act and disqualified driving
  • A 38-year-old man from Southport was arrested on suspicion of offences under the Proceeds of Crime Act

     

Detective Superintendent Jason Hudson from Titan said: “This operation shows our continued determination to tackle gun crime and high level drug trafficking in the North West.

“We will rigourously pursue anyone believed to be involved in serious and organised crime and appeal to members of the public with any information about illegal activity across the North West to call police so we can take action against those responsible.”

UPDATE: ELEVEN ARRESTED IN OPERATION BY TITAN TARGETING FIREARMS, DRUGS AND MONEY LAUNDERING
Six men have been charged as a result of raids carried out by the North West Regional Organised Crime Unit (Titan) across the North West yesterday (Thursday, 11 October 2012).

Ten men and one woman were arrested on suspicion of a number of offences including drugs, firearms, violence and money laundering following a covert investigation into serious and organised crime.
 
Officers from Titan, assisted by officers from Merseyside, Cheshire, and Greater Manchester, executed search warrants in Southport, Ainsdale, Anfield, Wallasey, Huyton, Banks, Aughton, Woodhouses, Hyde and Stockport.
The arrests are linked to the policing operation that saw 13 people charged following warrants executed by Titan across Merseyside, Lancashire, Cheshire and Manchester on 27 September 2012.
 
The six men charged are as follows:
  • Terence Sergeant, aged 33, of no fixed abode, has been charged with conspiracy to supply class A drugs
  • Alan Bentley, aged 43, of Eton Court, Northwich has been charged with conspiracy to supply class A drugs
  • Mark Higgins, aged 35, of Helston Green, Huyton has been charged with conspiracy to supply class A drugs and offences under the Proceeds of Crime Act
  • Daniel Edgar, aged 28, of Medlock Road, Woodhouses, Greater Manchester has been charged with conspiracy to supply class B drugs
  • Julian Solomon, aged 32, of Liverpool Road, Southport has been charged with grevious bodily harm and possession of a prohibited weapon
  • Kevin Dally, aged 43, of Moorbridge Close, Bootle has been charged with conspiracy to commit grevious bodily harm and conspiracy to commit blackmail
Sergeant was remanded in custody while the other five men were given court bail. They will all appear at Preston Magistrates’ Court on Thursday, 25 October 2012.
 
A 43-year-old man from Hyde, Greater Manchester, who was arrested on suspicion of conspiracy to supply class A drugs and class B drugs and offences under the Proceeds of Crime continues to be interviewed by detectives.

A 41-year-old man from Wallasey and two men aged 38 and 50, have been bailed by police for further enquiries.

A 49-year-old woman from Northwich was released without charge.
