Police mistake van as being stolen Southbank Road Southport

Police stopped a van on Southbank Road, Southport today (Monday 15th September 2014) for apparently being reported as stolen.

Officers told the driver that the vehicle was being seized and the contents removed.

Officers put the driver under caution and started removing gardening equipment from the van into the rear of the police vehicle.

Word came through the radio that the vehicle was not the stolen one.

Officers apologised to the driver and replaced the gardening tools back into the van and let the driver go on his way.
