    Police members say yes to pay offer

    By On The Spot News16th February 2015

    Police members say yes to pay offer

    UNISON police staff in England and Wales have voted to accept the latest pay offer from the employers.

    The union’s consultation saw 87% of those taking part vote for the offer of:

    •a 2.2% or £400 increase, whichever is the greater, on all pay points from 1 March 2015;

    •a 2.2% increase on standby allowances from 1 March 2015.

    With Unite and GMB members also voting in favour of the offer, the joint trade unions informed police employers last week that it has been accepted.

    It will cover the 18 months from 1 March 2015 to 31 August 2016, and UNISON hopes that forces will be able to pay the increase in March salaries.

    Members rejected a 1% pay rise lase summer last and UNISON balloted members for industrial action, with strike dates set for December.

    That strike was suspended to allow further talks with employers, which produced the offer that members have now accepted.

    “UNISON is rightly proud of our police staff members’ resolve,” says national officer Ben Priestley.

    “When we stand together for what we believe in, we can achieve results.

    “This pay deal shows that the trade unions and the police employers on the Police Staff Council can work together to reach negotiated settlements in difficult economic times.”
