Police crackdown on scrap metal vans
POLICE have been showing their mettle in a crackdown against rogue scrap dealers in the Southport.
Some dealers are driving vans in such a poor condition they were accidents waiting to happen, according to police.
A van on Leicester Street this afternoon (Tuesday 10th February 2015) was massively overloaded.
Police said drivers were coming to the area from out of town as they believed they would have an easier time in Southport — but officers are determined to prove them wrong.
The driver of the scrap van was issued with an OTS (Onthespot) fine according to a witness.
