Police Cordons in place following serious incident in Southport.

Police have sealed off part of Southport town centre this morning after a serious incident overnight, Sunday 22 April 2018.

Waverley Street has been closed off and officers are guarding a stretch of the road after a male was assaulted in the early hours.

A local resident told OTS News that a late night altercation turned into a serious assault with the victim now being treated in hospital – this is yet to be officially confirmed by Merseyside Police.

Merseyside Police are expected to release a statement later today.
