Emergency services have closed off the Lord Street gardens near to Sainsbury’s after reports of a body being discovered.
Police remain on scene and have sealed off the area near to the fountain between Lord Street and Post Office Avenue.
Inside the cordon is a green tarpaulin. Eye witnesses report that a body had been discovered earlier this morning by a member of the public however this is unconfirmed at this stage.
The gardens remains partially closed off and a statement from Merseyside Police is expected shortly.
