Detectives have closed off two roads in the Banks area of Southport tonight after reports that a body has been discovered.
Police and paramedics were called to the junction of Greaves Hall Avenue and Sanderling Lane this evening just after 5.30pm following the reported discovery of a body.
An official statement has yet to be issued by Lancashire Constabulary.
Forensics officers have also been seen on site combing the area and a forensics tent has been erected.
Residents are being asked to stay indoors and the road has been closed off to traffic.
