Police arrest alleged handbag thief on Lord Street, Southport

Police arrested a male on Lord Street on suspicion of a handbag theft this evening, Saturday 9 April 2016.

The thief was detained near to the Scarisbick Hotel and taken to the towns nearest custody suit (Copy Lane, Bootle) for further questioning.

Police at the scene declined to comment on the arrest.
