Police appeal for HGV driver and female pedestrian in search for Carl Lake

Detectives investigating the disappearance of 62 year-old Carl Lake in Southport are appealing to two people who may be able to assist the investigation to come forward.

Officers want to speak to the driver of an HGV and a female pedestrian who may have assisted Mr Lake on the day he went missing – Tuesday 15th May – in Southport.

Both people are believed to have come to the aid of Mr Lake who was lying on a grass verge at the side of the Coastal Road close to The Sands public house at around 2.15pm.

Mr Lake, who is from the Bootle area, was last seen around 5.30pm on 15thMay in the vicinity of Coronation Walk in Southport but hasn’t been seen since.

Detective Inspector Jackie Guinness said: “I would like to trace both the driver of the HGV and the female pedestrian as they may be able to assist us in piecing together the last few hours before Mr Lake went missing.

“Mr Lake was seen lying on a grass verge and both people stopped to check he was ok. We know Mr Lake was later seen in Southport town centre at around 5.30pm but hasn’t been seen since.

“I would ask these two people to come forward as they may have information which could assist our investigation.”
