Police appeal after 75-year-old was airlifted to hospital after crash

An Aughton woman has been left with serious leg injuries following a collision in Scarisbrick.

The incident happened at around 12.40pm on Southport Road on Thursday (November 16) when a Ford KA veered across the carriageway onto the opposite side and collided with a BMW 320D near to the Halliwell Jones Mini Garage.

The driver of the Ford, a 75-year-old woman from Aughton, suffered serious fractures to her legs and was taken to Aintree Hospital to be treated.

The other female driver, aged 67 and also from Aughton, sustained minor injuries.

Sgt Finn Quainton from the Road Policing Unit said: “We are trying to establish why this collision occurred and need anyone who may have seen anything that could assist us with our investigation to come forward and speak to us.”
