Plea for Volunteers at Galloway’s Southport

SOUTHPORT based sight loss charity, Galloway’s, is making a fresh plea for new volunteers in the area.

The charity, which supports blind and visually impaired people across Lancashire and Sefton, has a variety of volunteering opportunities at the Southport centre, on Wright Street, Southport.

Fundraisers, administrators, IT,   and activity group volunteers are just some of the fantastic volunteering opportunities on offer.

Kelly Barton, Volunteer Co-ordinator for Galloway’s, said: “We have a number of exciting volunteering opportunities at our Southport centre – and anyone can volunteer, whether you’re a young person looking to gain experience or perhaps you’ve retired and have got a few hours to spare; no matter what your motivation is to volunteer, we’d love to hear from you.

“All of our volunteers are given an induction and will receive sight loss awareness training. You will also receive continued support from our staff members and long-standing volunteers.”

Carl Moore, Vision Services Coordinator, for Southport, said: “We have a number of new volunteer roles we would like to fill.  We are looking for local people who can offer just a small amount of time to support people living with sight loss in our community.

He continued: “We already have a number of amazing volunteers who give up their time to help us – we are very keen to build on the brilliant work that they already do.”

If you are interested in applying to become a volunteer or would like to find out more about any of our volunteering opportunities please email kelly.barton@galloways.org.uk or call 01772 744148.
