Petrol bomb scare in Southport Town Centre

Fire crews have rushed to a town centre trouble spot after fears that a drunken man was shouting and screaming that he had a petrol bomb.

The male, who has now been sectioned under the mental health act took place shortly after 11am on London street as the man shouted that he had a petrol bomb in his hand.
Officers later discovered it to be a bottle of Pepsi.

Emergency crews rushed to the scene after a frantic 999 call but were quickly stood down after it was revealed to be a hoax.
