PDSA charity in desperate plea for donations

17th March 2018

A charity shop in Southport are urging local people to have a clear-out this weekend and donate any unwanted items to help sick and injured pets.

The People’s Dispensary for Sick Animals (PDSA) is a British veterinary charity that was founded in 1917 by Maria Dickin to provide care for sick and injured animals of the poor. There are now 120 PDSA charity shops across the country set up to support the charity’s work, including the Southport store on Lord Street.

They urgently need items including CDs, DVDs, books, toys and home furnishings such as vases, pictures and ornaments.

Shop manager Jackie Hayward said: “Why not have a clear out this weekend and donate your unwanted items to us As well as de-cluttering your home, you’ll be helping a very worthy cause at the same time. All money raised from the sale of these items will help the sick and injured pets of people in need.”

Donations can be taken to the shop from Monday to Saturday, between 9.30am and 5.30pm or you can ring the shop on 01704 536948 to arrange a collection.
