Paige puts best foot forward for charity trek

A southport student is hoping to raise at least £500 for a charity that is very close to her heart.

Southport College Paige Caddy, 17, from Southport, will walk from the town to Skelmersdale next week – and has already raised more than £400 for Queenscourt Hospice.

The hospice in Kew provides symptom control and holistic care for patients and their families from across Southport, Formby and West Lancs along with educational support for their professional carers, to enable them to stay at home as far as possible.

Paige and her mum, who is a healthcare assistant at the hospice take part in the charity’s Star Trekk walk each year but were unable to because of the lockdown.

So Paige, who has also previously completed a sponsored silence for the charity, came up with her new fundraiser.

Paige said: “Most years, I do the Star Trekk walk but sadly because of all what’s going on it’s impossible this year so instead I am making a difference in my own way by walking from Southport to Skelmersdale.
