Labour Leader Jeremy Corbyn has said that convicted terrorists should “not necessarily” serve their full prison sentences automatically. He says terrorists can be released early if they have been ‘rehabilitated’.
This pathetic quip came after the PM Boris Johnson said violent offenders “must serve every day of their sentence, with no exceptions”.
These comments come in the aftermath of the London Bridge terror attack, which left two civilians dead.
The attacker, 28-year-old Usman Khan, was a convicted terrorist. He was wearing an electronic tag after being released halfway through a 16-year prison sentence for plotting to bomb the London Stock Exchange.
Usman Khan was jailed in 2012 for his role in an al Qaeda-inspired terror group that plotted to bomb the London Stock Exchange and the US Embassy and kill Boris Johnson.
In an old letter from 2012, the terrorist begged to be shown mercy and asked for a course to be arranged so that he could ‘properly learn Islam and its teachings, and I can prove I don’t carry the extreme views which I might have carried before.’
Islamic State on Saturday claimed responsibility for the stabbing attack in central London that left two people dead before the attacker was shot and killed by armed police.
The Islamist militia’s mouthpiece news agency, Amaq, said the man was an Islamic State fighter and that he carried out the attack in response to calls for targeting citizens of the countries that form an alliance fighting Islamic State.
Claims the Mr Corbyn’s unwise comments will send the wrong message to terrorist groups are spreading.

Previously, however, ‘Systemic Islamophobia’ fuels terror attacks, said Muslim leaders. And Tory peer Lady Warsi demanded more security funds for UK mosques.
