OTS readers have been hailed for their efforts to help force Sefton Council to halt plans to demolish the Blundell Arms pub in Birkdale
Campaigners to save the pub and transform it into a community hub are now back on the table after planning bosses put a temporary stop on any plans to demolish it.
campaigner Jason Marshall said “Sefton Planning committee decided to defer a decision while they await the preparation of a viability report by the pubs current owners.
“This will take at least one planning cycle to produce a report and further planning cycle for the councillors to understand what they are being presented with. We wanted 10 to 12 weeks to raise the money.
“I believe the time we have now gives us enough time to fund a mixed use planning application, and to launch a community share issue.
