Ordinary Lies

Ep 4/6 Tuesday 7 April

9.00pm-10.00pm

BBC ONE

ordinary-1The fourth episode of the compelling six-part series tells the story of JS Motors’ mechanic, Rick. Reluctant to give up his fun-loving lifestyle, Rick still works as a part-time DJ and is always the life and soul of the party.

But his outwardly gregarious attitude proves to be a front for a deeply troubled personal life. Trapped in an unhappy marriage which has reached breaking point, episode four finds Rick homeless and sleeping in a van in the showroom car park. When company boss Mike discovers him, he offers to put him up at his home for a few nights and get Rick back on track.

While crashing with Mike’s family Rick starts to get close to his boss’s carefree teenage daughter Ruby. Spending more and more time together and bonding over common interests, the pair soon find their relationship entering dangerous territory.

In an added twist, Mike entrusts Rick with his darkest secrets, confessing the truth about his own loveless marriage and revealing his strong feelings for employee Beth. He’s desperate to keep his secret hidden but wife Alison is growing increasingly suspicious.

Rick is played by Shazad Latif, Mike Hill by Max Beesley, Ruby by Holly Earl, Alison Hill by Belinda Stewart-Wilson, Kathy Kavanagh by Sally Lindsay, Tracy Shawcross by Michelle Keegan, Beth Corben by Jo Joyner, Marty McLean by Jason Manford, Grace Wells by Rebecca Callard, Katrina McLean by Erin Shanagher, Paracetamol Pete by Mackenzie Crook, Ralph by Tony Maudsley, Niall by Edward Macliam, Fat Jason by George Bukhari, Marianne Morton by Manjinder Virk, Ziggy by Fisayo Akinade and Vivienne Baxter by Cherrelle Skeete.
