Orange Parade hits Southport this Weekend

Merseyside police has warned of potential traffic problems ahead of a loyalist march in Southport.

The Apprentice Boys of Derry will march through Southport town centre this Saturday, June 11 2016

The first march is set for 11am followed by a second march at 4pm. Around 2000 people took part in last years event .

Last year a Southport resident complained to of men and women urinating in public on the same day as the Apprentice Boys of Derry march in the town and violence between lodge members on Liverpool bound trains after the event.

Colin Roberts, speaking on behalf of the Apprentice Boys, suggested the people seen urinating were not from his organisation. He said around 1000 people took part in the march, and that the event was trouble free.
