Southport residents looking for new volunteering opportunities are being invited to attend a speed dating-style event in the town early next month.

The volunteer speed-matching session is being run byโ€ˆSouthport Community Centre at its Norwood Road HQ between 2pm and 4pm on Wednesday 6th November.

Organisers say the event will be a โ€˜fun, fast and informal wayโ€™ for residents to find their ideal volunteer match.

Participants will be able to chat to representatives from local voluntary, community and faith sector organisations, and learn about the opportunities they have on offer.

Staff from Volunteer Centre Sefton will also be on hand to offer expert advice on the advantages of volunteering.

These can include meeting new people, making new friends, learning new skills and being part of a team looking to make a positive difference to life in the area.

Sefton CVS Volunteer Co-ordinator, Rachael West, commented:โ€ˆโ€œThis event will be an informal, non-committal way for Southport residents to find out more about volunteering with some of the amazing groups in the town.

โ€œVolunteers help to provide many essential services in our community, and the speed-matching session will introduce participants to organisations that could benefit from the knowledge, skills and commitment they have to offer.โ€

To reserve a place at the event, or to find out more, ring Southport Community Centre onย โ€ช01704 517810โ€ฌย or emailย info@southportcommunitycentre.org.uk.
