Firefighters safety advice to people with dementia in Southport

Open Day At Southport Community Fire Station

A community open day will be held at Southport Community Fire Station with a variety of activities on offer for the family to enjoy.

People are invited to come along, meet the firefighters and have a look around the new station.

The event will take place on Saturday, September 13, from 11am to 4pm, at the station on Albert Road in Southport and all are welcome to attend.

There will be two vintage vehicles on display from the MF&RS Heritage and Education Centre and children will also be invited to have a look around the modern fire appliances.

The MF&RS Crash Car Trailer will also be there, which shows the impact on a vehicle following a road collision.

Firefighters will also be carrying out demonstrations on the day and people will have the opportunity to look around the station’s facilities.

Refreshments will be provided by the Salvation Army and there will also be a number of partners providing information to the public on the day.

A raffle with prizes including meal vouchers, family passes as well as cinema tickets, will also be held and the proceeds will be donated to The Fire Fighters Charity.

Watch Manager Steve Pang said:  “We will also be giving out fire safety advice and will be offering information to the public on road safety.

“Events like this give people the opportunity to see the range of work that firefighters do and also give people a chance to look around our fire appliances as well as the station facilities.

“We are really looking forward to meeting members of the community and everyone is welcome to come along and enjoy the event.”
