Birkdale High School in Southport has become the first school in Southport to use buses to advertise their school.
Since the 8th December Arriva buses have been travelling around Sefton, featuring the 13 foot advert on the sides of 10 of their buses.
The Headteacher of Birkdale High, Mr Gils Bourgarde stated, “We are proud to be the first school in Southport to be able to use the local buses to convey what our school is all about. We wanted to use the buses to spread our ethos amongst the local community”.
The advertising campaign will run throughout the year and will feature a number of different messages changing periodically to try encapsulate the ethos of the Windy Harbour road school. The face of the first advert Dylan Curry from year 8, said, “When I found out I was going to be used on the sides of the buses I was really proud. My family and I think it is quite cool that for a short time I can be the face of my school”.
It’s not the first time recently the school has been forward thinking. In June 2014 the school opened its own not for profit school uniform shop. The venture is run by pupils with only guidance being offered by staff and results in the school being able to pass onto their parents and carers massive financial savings
